Description: The Chelsea School is a nonprofit private school located on a 4.87 acre site in the Evanswood area of Silver Spring. The school is bordered by Ellsworth Drive, Springvale Road and Pershing Drive; it also owns several lots which front on Cedar Street. The school has received approval from the Board of Appeals, Planning Board and Historic Preservation Commission for a series of modifications that will provide improved facilities for students and facilitate a gradual increase in enrollment. The major components include improvements to the classroom building and gymnasium; circulation and parking improvements; and relocation of the student drop-off area to the Ellsworth Drive side of the campus. Portions of the proposed improvements have been implemented.
