Friends of Brookside Gardens

" Helping to make this botanical wonderland a beautiful and enjoyable year-round learning experience for all visitors."

The Purpose of Friends of Brookside Gardens

The Friends of Brookside Gardens (FOBG) was established to support the mission of the Gardens. This includes the maintaining of programs to reveal the year-round wonders and beauty of nature and also educating the public on how the proper care of plants can preserve the environment.

Friends Funded Projects

Examples of major Friends funded projects include: the intern position responsible for landscaping and maintaining the plantings around the Conservatory, new furniture for children's classroom, and special projects such as those around the Reflection Terrace and the Conservatory.

In October, 2005 Friends voted to give $50,000 to jump start the Master Plan for Brookside Gardens. The first project involves landscaping and upgrading the main gate area, up the slope to the woodland area and down to the water's edge.

In June, 2006 Friends voted to continue funding of the Internship Program and the Green Matters Symposium. Additional funding for the Master Plan will depend on increasing membership and fund raising efforts.
