Historic Preservation Commission Grants

Who can apply?

The Historic Preservation Grant Fund provides small grants to non-profit groups or municipalities in Montgomery County, which must be matched dollar-for-dollar with either cash or in-kind contributions. The types of projects that the HPC will consider funding include, but are not limited to, development and installation of historic district and historic resource signs; walking tours; handbooks, design guidelines and/or brochures related to historic dis­tricts or individual historic resources; history /historic site brochures or books; feasibility studies for restoration or preservation of buildings, sites, and historical artifacts owned or under the custody of non-profit groups; and public education projects such as historical and archeological surveys, slide/tape shows, lectures, videos, workshops, web site design, oral history taping/transcriptions, photographic displays or other types of exhibits pertaining to local history. Be creative!

What is the application process?

Applications are posted on this page mid-summer and are due in September. Decisions are made in the fall, and grantees must complete their project during the following calendar year. Applications for the 2008 fiscal year are due by September 28, 2007.
