Parks Internships

The Collegiate Internship Program is designed to provide realistic work experience in park management and recreation to qualified college students who anticipate careers in these areas. Other fields of study are also available. Interns will be assigned to work with Montgomery County Department of Parks staff on a full-time basis (37.5 hours per week) and will be compensated.

Student Eligibility

  • Students must currently be enrolled in a degree program at a college or university at the undergraduate or graduate level or attending a technical school pursuing a professional license.
  • Prefer students with at least a 2.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale).

Application Instructions

  • Students must submit an M-NCPPC employment application (pdf, 201KB) to be considered for employment.
    IMPORTANT UPDATE: Students may now apply online for an internship position.  When completing the application, online or hard copy, enter Position #99999 and do not enter the Bulletin #.  The bulletin # is not required.  If you previously submitted an online application for summer 2009 without a position number then please reapply using position #99999.  Due to technical difficulty, the online applications were not sent to the Internship Coordinator.
  • Students must submit a transcript of their records. An unofficial transcript is acceptable.
  • Students must submit a personal statement indicating goals and aspirations that may be enhanced by participation in the program. Personal statements must be at least one page long.

NOTE: Personal statement must accompany applications. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
