Brookside Nature Center, located in Wheaton Regional Park, provides fun experiences in our parks helping visitors develop a connection to our natural and cultural resources.
The nature center interprets local natural and cultural history through:
- live reptile, amphibian, and fish exhibits
- hands-on children's nature discovery areas
- insect and mammal displays, including an observation beehive
- Bay-friendly backyard and schoolyard habitat demonstration garden
- pioneer homestead and heritage garden
- self-guided nature trail\
- accessible interpretive boardwalks
- wildlife
viewing areas, and
bird, butterfly, and native plant gardens.
Naturalist-led programs explore the dynamic natural areas of the park. Schools, scouts, and other educational groups should request our Educator's Guide to Programs* before calling for program reservations. The Montgomery County Program Guide lists our monthly calendar of events and summer nature camps, and is available at county nature centers and libraries.
