About the ParkStar Search Competition
For the first time ever, the Montgomery County Department of Parks offered the chance for one lucky teen to be a ParkStar .... on The Parks Show! The talent search was open to teens 14 through 17. Forty area teens with an interest in television auditioned. And, one lucky winner was chosen after more than 8,000 online votes were cast. Our new ParkStar will spend 12 days this summer writing, interviewing and hosting The Parks Show and will work with us over in all elements of television production.
Talent Search
It worked like this:
- Eligible teens, came to 1 of our 2 open auditions to try out to be the ParkStar, host of The Parks Show for a total of 12 days of work this summer.
- With their parents or guardians, teens completed the contest entry form and reviewed the official contest rules and prize information for more on judging, eligibility and the conditions of participation. The Parks Show producers taped the auditions and have used many in recent episodes.
- After the auditions, we narrowed down the competition to the top 5 ParkStar finalists and posted their audition video online.
- Then more than 8,000 voted online from May 1, 2008 through May 15, 2008 for our winner. May 16, 2008: Check the results!
- Now, watch your favorite ParkStar on The Parks Show this summer , three times daily on County Cable Montgomery Comcast and RCN Channel 6 and Verizon FiOS Channel 30.
