Along with the many fine features in this popular park, both children and adults are entranced by a ride on the miniature train.  The train is a replica of the1863 C.P. Huntington, a 4-2-4T steam locomotive purchased by the Southern Pacific Railroad and named in honor of Collis P. Huntington, President of the Southern Pacific Company. A party room at the Cabin John train station is available for rentals.

All Aboard the Cabin John "Eye Spy" Halloween Train!

If you're looking for some Halloween fun with just enough (but not too much!) boo power for your younger children (ages 8 and under), come to Cabin John Regional Park! Now in its second year, the Cabin John "Eye Spy" Halloween Train will be more fun than ever.

  • * Ride the train through the woods, find Halloween friends hiding there, and mark them off your "Eye Spy" card as you go.
  • * Halloween movies each night
  • * Different fun activity each night: Pumpkin Ring Toss (every night), face painting, or a creepy craft on other nights.
  • * Prizes and giveaways, too!
  • * NEW THIS YEAR! Purchase same-day advance tickets beginning at 2p.m. at the train station each day, for scheduled boarding times that night. Trains will run on the half-hour. If you don't purchase advance tickets, you may want to call us at 301-469-7835 to check the availability of tickets that day before heading out.
  • * DATES: Thursday, October 23 through Thursday, October 30, 6-9 p.m. each night
  • * Admission: $5, or $4 with a canned food donation.

    Admission

    Ticket: $1.50 per person
    Discount Ticket Books:  $13.00 (10 tickets)

    Party Room Rentals

    The party room accommodates up to 30 people.  It is rented for a minimum of 2 hours for $100 between the hours of 10 AM-4 PM.  Additional time is available for $25 per hour or any portion thereof.  Any number of train tickets may be purchased for your party, and discount ticket books of 10 tickets for $13.00 are available (a $2.00 savings off the single ticket price). For an additional $50 the patio can be set up to accommodate 50 more people.  A $25 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve a date, with the balance due on the day of the event.  Checks should be made payable to M-NCPPC, and can be dropped of or mailed to: M-NCPPC Train Station, 7700 Tuckerman Lane, Potomac, MD, 20854.

    Directions

    From I-270 take Exit 1A and merge onto Old Georgetown Road/MD 187.  Turn left onto Tuckerman Lane and continue to the park entrance.
