Trails Work Program Priorities

On Thursday, September 29, 2005, the Montgomery County Planning Board approved the Staff recommended FY 07-09 Trails Work Program Priorities. After hearing from several citizens and reviewing written testimony, the Planning Board made several changes and clarifications.

The Planning Board:

  • directed staff to work with the Friends of Callethia Farm to open an equestrian trail from the Farm to an overlook of the Potomac River as a pilot project at Blockhouse Point Conservation Park by January 1, 2006.
  • asked that of the proposed 10-12 annual trail events proposed in the work program, two per year be oriented to equestrians and two per year be oriented to mountain biking.
  • requested staff to help find ways to improve safety along the Capital Crescent Trail where it intersects Little Falls Parkway and Dorset Avenue.
